UK-based organization Edexcel
recently has launched its new Qualification for the garment industry
in Bangladesh at Pan Pacific Sonargaoun. Edexcel introduces the
institutions to the media those will offer the qualifications. BTT
Institute of Technology is one of the four institutions those has
got the approval of Edexcel.
The four training centers
are Bangladesh Institute of Design and Technology, Bangladesh Textile
Today-Institute of Technology (BTTIT), Information Centre for Technology
Management and SAFS
Jason Gregory, commercial
development manager of Edexcel, announced the launch of the qualification
at a programme where academics, professionals and merchandisers
were present.
The qualifications on offer
are the Higher National Diploma (HND), Higher National Certificate
(HNC) and National Diploma (ND) on Apparel Merchandising to benefit
a cross section of learners. The International qualifications will
encompass holistic learning and provide progression routes into
employment and higher education. BTEC qualifications are practical
based and work related and recognized or well-known for equipping
learners with essential transferable skills like planning, multi-tasking
and problem solving.

Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Anwar-Ul-Alam
Chowdhury Parvez attended the function as the chief guest. He
said, “The launch of Edexcel’s BTEC qualifications
for the garment industry is a significant development. We at
the BGMEA feel the qualifications are completely work related
and tailored to the requirements of the industry. Learners studying
the qualifications will benefit immensely and become wholly
ready to join the industry.” |
